Film editor and export

Trim your takes, add fades and music, and export one MP4. Exports are free.

The film editor turns your takes into one film: trim each shot, choose cuts or fades, set the volume, add a music or voice track and export an MP4.

Open your film

  • From a storyboard: choose Open in editor. The chosen takes are laid out in order.
  • Add any finished clip from your library with Add a clip.
  • The editor saves automatically. The header shows the number of clips and the running time, for example 4 clips · 0:49.

Edit the timeline

Each shot has In and Out times, a volume and a transition to the next shot.

How long will the film be?

Each shot lasts its Out time minus its In time. Every fade overlaps two shots by half a second, so each fade makes the film half a second shorter.

ExampleFour shots with two fades
ShotInOutLengthThen
10.015.015.0 sFade
22.012.010.0 sCut
30.015.015.0 sFade
41.011.010.0 sEnd

15 + 10 + 15 + 10 = 50 seconds of shots, minus 0.5 seconds for each of the two fades: the film runs 49 seconds.

Music and sound

  • Choose a file under Music or voice track. It plays from the start of the film and fades out at the end.
  • Set Track volume so the music sits under the shots' own sound.
  • Each shot keeps its native sound unless you mute it.

Quick answers

I can't hear the music or see the fades in the preview.

That's expected. The preview plays the cuts in order; fades and music are mixed into the export.

Do exports cost credits?

No. Exports are free, up to 20 a day.
